SUMMARY
Back / Forward do not work incosistently, probably not all in People view.  When they work, there is a noticable delay over a second in responding.

Back/Forward in what context? With the image preview? We preload the image preview, but if you scroll faster than the preloading succeeds, there will be a delay. That's normal and can't be changed.

I was referring to jumping across modules, using ALT-RIGHT & ALt-LEFT, specifically from People module and jumping across faces.
