SUMMARY For some time now, after every reboot, I have to do: $ systemctl --user start plasma-xdg-desktop-portal-kde.service $ systemctl --user restart xdg-desktop-portal.service — in order to get KDE's file dialogs in apps. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Reboot openSUSE Tumbleweed OBSERVED RESULT $ systemctl --user status plasma-xdg-desktop-portal-kde.service says it's dead EXPECTED RESULT $ systemctl --user status plasma-xdg-desktop-portal-kde.service shows it as running SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20250418 KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.13.0 Qt Version: 6.9.0 Kernel Version: 6.14.2-1-default (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I tested the latest KDE Linux snapshot and ran into the same issue, with the same workaround — I don't know if the cause is the same though.
Thanks for the bug report. I'm not able to reproduce this on git-master on Solus, or on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed When the service id dead, can you copy and paste the full output of systemctl --user status plasma-xdg-desktop-portal-kde.service ?
The issue is gone for me, I guess it has since been fixed in openSUSE
