SUMMARY

The idea of the Grouping widget plasmoid is great! But usually, if we want to group some plasmoids, we want to have them available as a popup window in the panel. So, the widget should show a button, and when we click on it - show a popup panel, containing all grouped widgets.

If this is already possible now, please describe how to configure this, if not - this will be a good feature to implement!

Yes, I thought the same before. I'll try to get it implemented for 6.4.

There is already a feature request for this, see the linked issue.

I had a look at it but I fear it's trickier to implement than I had hoped.
