SUMMARY


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. importing mp4 files from SD-Card not starting (0% static)
2. Trying to preview exiting mp4 videos (double click) in digiKam keeps the preview window blank, 
3. I am on new Ubuntu 25.04, on previous Ubuntu 24.10 everything worked on digiKam 8.5, while 8.6 had and also now has a problem with ExifTool.  

OBSERVED RESULT
no video whatsoever is playing.

video preview

Are you using the Ubuntu digiKam Snap package? If so, use our AppImage.
Snap packages use a sandbox, this package format is not suitable for digiKam.

Using the appimage made 8.6 work correctly and Videos are showing.
This makes me really glad for being able to use your wonderful software now.
Only still struggling to integrate the app into the desktop.
