OBSERVED RESULT Failed to start apt-news.service: Unit apt-news.service not found. Failed to start esm-cache.service: Unit esm-cache.service not found. and the apt update command runs like nothing happened EXPECTED RESULT apt update running without any issues or warnings SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: 11 (on a different drive, unrelated to the bug) (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window) Operating System: KDE neon Unstable Edition KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.80 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.14.0 Qt Version: 6.8.2 Kernel Version: 6.11.0-21-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-5300U CPU @ 2.30GHz Memory: 8 GiB of RAM (7.6 GiB usable) Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 5500 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Still an issue on the latest version of Testing Edition
If you upgrade your new installation and reboot the issue should be resolved. The fix just hasn't landed on any new iso's yet.

been pushed to stable but the snapshot to testing has been failing due to various failing q.a. checks. should land very soon though TM ;)

After installing updates (which also had neon-ubuntu-advantage-tools-99+p24.04+vstable+git20250904.1337.all) and the error is gone, I am marking this as resolved.
