When i try to click on the top left icon to see the apllication menu it does not work . Only if I click the bottom right quarter of the icon it receives the onClicked signal

If you re-arrange widgets so something else in in the top-left corner, does the same thing happen?

Does this issue happen on X11, Wayland, or both?

If you run `xprop` in a terminal window and click in the invisible dead zone, what gets printed to the terminal window?
Comment 2 Sebastian Turzański 2025-04-08 15:17:49 UTC
When I tried to do as you suggest now my TaskManager icons overlaps with
VirtualDesktop switcher and all is messed up, so  I cannot answer.

Can you recover from that by restarting and then try again?

after kicker moved to left panel's bottom

I recovered and the same problem appeared, also to be able to move the kicker down shows the move cursor only in this widget area that is clickable .
on some more attempts I was able to move kicker below and now still top left of the screen fails to receive clicks. so it is not kicker specific

Thanks.

Does this issue happen on X11, Wayland, or both?

Does it happen if you disable the top-left screencorner trigger in System Settings > Mouse & Touchpad > Screen Edges?

I only get it one changing the display configuration - attaching external screen with different scaling.
I understand you will not be able to fix it if I don't provide a reproduction steps.
The tip about corner button is something I will be able to check when it happens because indeed I had a corner action assigner to top-left corner so maybe this is it
Comment 11 Sebastian Turzański 2025-05-07 12:55:57 UTC
What i did to reproduce
Wayland Session

- change Display setting from 4k with 225% scaling to fullHD with 100%
- work on some stuff
- set the display settings back to 4k with 225% scaling
- try to use the "Start Menu" to see the problem appearing
- disabled top-left hot corner to see if this helps
- try to use the "Start Menu" to see the problem still appearing so not related with hot corner but rather some miscalculation after scale/ resolution change
Comment 12 Sebastian Turzański 2025-05-07 12:57:34 UTC
Logging out and back in fixes it

It happens only in wayland.
Even more, in X11 I don't see any effect of changing scale from 100% to 200% or 225% when clicking on Apply button.
To see the effect of scale change in X11 I have to relogin and as I mentioned the relogin fixes it in Wayland.

Thanks.

if you move your panel to be at the bottom of the screen, does the "dead zone in the corner" issue apply to files and folders on the desktop in the top-left screen corner too?

Thanks. I saw a tooltip appear when you hovered over the dead zone; could you translate that into English for me?

It's like there's an invisible window open or something, and it's got a titlebar button that you're invisibly hovering over. How strange. But it's not clear this is a bug, rather than a configuration issue.

Can you see if you can figure out what that invisible window is? Perhaps there's something about it in KWin debug console (search for exactly that term in KRunner to find it)
Comment 21 Sebastian Turzański 2025-05-26 09:03:01 UTC
That was a good hint,
i now it was cause by somehow hanging AnyDesk application,
Some months ago I was reporting that the tray icon of Anydesk was showing on top left corner even if the tray was completely else - this has been solved but it seams it was solved in a way that sometimes some 'leftovers' from anyDesk are still covering the left top screen corner.
I connected the dots when the same on-hover message appeared when I hovered of anydesk TrayIcon - and when i right clicked in that case there was no option to see proper AnyDesk's right click menu which shoudl contain 2 items : New Session, Quit
Instead I was getting a context menu simillar to the one You get in taskbar icon.
I killed anydesk and restarted it and everything works ok.
I will try to observe more but i'm sure that anyDesk users can confirm it.

Thanks. Sounds like this is an app bug after all. I'd recommend reporting it to the AnyDesk developers!
