I had to add this flag manually. I think the system could try to identify even when a distro doesn't.

I'm requesting that instead of defaulting to an EN-US keyboard if it's not configured, the system should try to identify the keyboard, and if it succeeds, add its country flag.

Maybe this classifies as https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/issues/64

Then we should identify and fix that bug. We don't intentionally write code to work around our own bugs.

All the Portuguese keyboard layouts have flags for me, so this is a bug of some sort. Can you open a new bug report about that that details how exactly you manage to reproduce it? Thanks!

The flag works fine.

So if the installation or the user doesn't set a keyboard layout, Plasma can't identify the keyboard layout and add a country flag, or even recommend changing to it on that section?

I've put my language on the installer and Plasma's keyboard layout page didn't had my country flag.

I've just installed Fedora Kinoite 41 on Boxes, and just like Arch Linux's Bug 498377 , Plasma's keyboard layout was empty.

So this can't be an Arch Linux issue like you said on the other bug.

Kubuntu 24.10

On Kubuntu 24.10 (Plasma 6.1.5), has the US flag, definitely not what I set in this attachment.

Nate, are you sure this is actually a bug? Are all of these distros supposed to change the Plasma's keyboard layout for users outside the US?

So far they're either empty (which defaults to EN-US), or has the EN-US flag in Kubuntu's case.

Please stop re-opening bug reports I've closed, and follow instructions. We won't get anywhere otherwise. I asked for a new bug report that describes an actual problem, ideally using Steps To Reproduce so someone can try to make it happen.

Thanks.
