Can you try to reproduce using last AppImage 8.7.0 pre-release where Qt and KDE frameworks have been updated ? https://files.kde.org/digikam/
Which AppImage are you using exactly, Qt5 or Qt6? We use Icon auto color from the KF6 framework. The icons automatically adapt to digiKam's color scheme. This only works in the Qt6 AppImage. Maik
