Created attachment 179973 [details]
empty digikam settings section

SUMMARY
Due to some reason some pictures do not have any information in the digikam settings section. These are not shown in the album or date view. Searching for new entries, does not help. Cleaning up the database does not help. Repair hidden items, does not help.

Searching for the filename, finds the picture. If one edits the digikam settings section and saves, the pictures appear in the views.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Manage to have some pictures without any setting in the digikam settings section. Probabaly having two instances starting at the same time?
2. Check all views for the pictures

OBSERVED RESULT
Pictures are not shown

EXPECTED RESULT
Pictures are shown.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 11

Can you provide a debugview trace while trying to show an album following the instructions here:

We're aware of the problem, but have never been able to reproduce it. Either the database was locked and the information couldn't be written, or the files were open in other programs and were blocked for digiKam.

The problem with the locked database should no longer occur in current digiKam versions.

Read the metadata from the affected images into the database again, either via the Item or Album menu.

You can try the 8.7.0 pre-release here :

Comment 4 caulier.gilles 2025-04-11 18:13:37 UTC
Hi,

The 8.7.0 pre-release Windows installer from today have been rebuilt from
scratch with Qt 6.8.3, KDE 6.12, OpenCV 4.11 + CUDA support, Exiv2 0.28.5, ExifTool 13.27, ffmpeg 7, all image codecs updated to last version (jxl, avif, heif, aom, etc.).

Please try with this version to see if your problem still reproducible...

Thanks in advance
Best regards

No feedback.
I close this file following comment #2 that must be the suspected origin of the problem (lock in the database), which is not reproducible with last versions.
