It'd be great to be able to double click to the right of a folder name, in the Project Bin, to allow importing clips right inside that folder. This would allow users to keep using the handy double-click-to-import workflow, while not having to drag the imported clip(s) inside the intended folder right afterwards. Currently a double click in that area (to the right of a folder name) will just trigger a rename operation. Thanks for listening! :)
If you select a folder, all actions to add clips move those clips into that folder. So, in a way, this feature already exists. You can assign keyboard shortcuts to all add-a-clip actions. I agree that the double-click-to-add-a-clip is handy (personally I don't use that at all, btw) but I am wondering whether having a double-click perform different functions in the same area only based on horizontal spacing may be not intuitive and even confusing or irritating.
Yeah, I know. Using shortcuts is another way to work swiftly. By the way, it would be really great if Kdenlive included a (say, the standard Ctrl+I) default shortcut for the "Add Clip or Folder" function. But, I think, this is more about being able to accommodate various valid workflows to the furthest extent possible, to make the program as friendly as possible to different kinds of people or use cases (without colliding with each other, of course). Regarding your concerns about having different functions, based only on horizontal spacing, please notice that currently if you double click on the folder icon you will be opening/closing the folder, while doing the same over the text next to it, will be renaming it. Two functions on the same row, just a few pixels away from each other. What I suggest here is considering the "empty row space" as a third area, and assign the "Add Clip or Folder" function to it. As a side note, it surprised me that double clicking where there is no text, executed the rename text function, it's a behavior I didn't expect. (I expected either to open the "Add clip" action, to just open/close the folder or to do nothing at all, but not to rename a text I wasn't targeting with the mouse pointer). In fact while testing, I've come across a potential bug (video attached): Depending on what you've just done previously, doing a double click over the empty right side of the bin row, will (sometimes, randomly?) execute the rename or the open/close folder actions. To close, my main point with this suggestion is that if the program allows for a certain workflow to be used for some task (in this case importing clips), it'd be good for this kind of workflow to be effective to the widest extent possible. Currently, the double click to import workflow can only be used for importing media into the main space of a bin (95% of times, the Project Bin), for any other situation it loses practicality. If we can improve that to accommodate also importing media into any folder, I personally think it'll be an improvement for the program that will make it likeable to more people.

I get your point but it would never have occurred to me to double-click on the arrow next to the folder name because a single click suffices. > What I suggest here is considering the "empty row space" as a third area, > and assign the "Add Clip or Folder" function to it.
