SUMMARY By default, most folders in Dolphin use the Icons View Mode, but for some reason some folders don't: - Trash, - Recent Files, - and Recent Locations all use the Details View Mode. Changing the global View Mode doesn't affect the View Mode of these folders. Changing the View Mode while one of these folders are open will work, but they will still default to the Details View Mode after restart or after going to a different folder and coming back.
Hi - I can't reproduce what I think the issue is here on Dolphin 24.12.3. Just to double-check, can you please provide specific steps to reproduce (https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Issue_Reporting#Step_6:_File_a_high-quality_Bugzilla_ticket)? Can you also please share a screenshot of the window for Configure Dolphin > View > General? Thanks!
I just opened the settings in Dolphin navigated to the View page and I see a note that explains what this bug report is about: Under "Display Style: Use common display style for all folders": "Some special views like search, recent files, or trash will still use a custom display style." So apparently it is intended that these "special views" use a different View Mode/Display style (both names are used in Dolphin to refer to the same thing) from the one the user sets for all other folders. But why? FYI, I didn't include the detailed steps, because they're basically: open Dolphin > go to Recent Files/Trash etc.
I've changed the title of the bug report to reflect more clearly the problem. The behaviour described here seems intended by the developers but it's not clear why they decided to do it this way.
Created attachment 181069 [details] Hint that this behaviour is intended, but why is it so?
