"about digikam" window, OPENCV is missing

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Fresh install of Digikam on Windows 10
2. Add person pictures to the library
3. Run the "persons" module to detect faces

OBSERVED RESULT
no face found

EXPECTED RESULT
faces found and proposing UI to tag said faces

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 10
Qt Version: 6

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I have tried to troubleshoot on my own using the docs, tutorials, chatgpt, but nothings seems to make my software able to recognize its own face detection component, the one called OPENCV.

I never seen this kind of dysfunction before...
Comment 2 Michael Miller 2025-03-23 22:35:45 UTC
Hi Marv,
I strongly recommend uninstalling digiKam 8.5.0 and installing 8.6.0. There are many improvements in 8.6.0, including a new version of OpenCV. The screenshot shows version 8.5.0.

Cheers,
Mike

One point to check is the DK/Setup/Miscs/System settings about OpenCL support with OpenCV on your computer.

Please turn off/on this option to see if it's better :

https://docs.digikam.org/en/setup_application/miscs_settings.html#system-settings

Another point is the OpenCV hardware detection on your computer. Please go to Help/Component Info dialog and copy and paste the content.

Best
