I guess you are on Linux. Please try with the current Kdenlive AppImage version 24.12.3 to see if there are any packaging issues https://kdenlive.org/en/download/
The Keyframe type changes the interpolation with the next keyframe. So to try it out, set a keyframe at time 0 with the image scaled to use only the half left of the screen and a second keyframe at 50 frames scaled to use the half right of the screen. Then change the interpolation type of the keyframe at position 0, and try playing the animation.
