SUMMARY The main panel is set as auto-hiding. In task manager settings, the option "Unhide when a window wants attention" is off. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start an X session, not Wayland 2. Make sure the main panel is set as auto-hiding. 3. Hover over the task manager 4. Task manager disappears 5. Focus another window (either by clicking or with ALT-TAB) OBSERVED RESULT The panel unhides as soon as another window gets focus on X (not on Wayland) You need to hover the panel again to hide it as expected EXPECTED RESULT Task manager shouldn't unhide when switching windows SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: 6.8.0-55-generic / 5.27.12 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.12 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.115.0 Qt Version: 5.15.13 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This only happens on X. It's ok on Wayland. In task manager settings, tried ticking/unticking the option "Unhide when a window wants attention", thought it's related, but it happens either way.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE (updated) 1. Start an X session, not Wayland 2. Make sure the main panel is set as auto-hiding. 3. Panel should be hidden. If not, hover over it, then away, until it actually disappears 3. Open a new window, or focus an existing one (either by clicking or with ALT-TAB)
Plasma 5.27 is EOL at this point; can you upgrade to Plasma 6 and see if it still happens there? Kubuntu 24.10 should get you there.
