SUMMARY I am not sure if this a feature or a bug. I am also not sure whether this is a restriction in % or in pixels. If it's in %, then for ultra wide screens this makes a bigger difference in absolute numbers as for my small 14" laptop screen. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. The config for custom tiling in Meta+T doesn't seem to matter. I've tested it with no tile at all. 2. Tile, e.g. Kate or Dolphin, to the left or right, e.g. by Meta+Arrow keys or by dragging it to the edge 3. Start dragging the edge of the window to resize it OBSERVED RESULT Can only resize the window up to ~ 80% of the screen size. EXPECTED RESULT Can resize the window up to 100%. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Fedora Linux 41 KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.12.0 Qt Version: 6.8.2 Kernel Version: 6.13.7-200.fc41.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Scaling: 1.25
> Can resize the window up to 100%. That wouldn't make any sense as then the adjacent window would be resized to 0% and would disappear entirely, right? If you want to tile a window to 100% of the screen, you've basically maximized it, so is there a reason you can't maximize it instead?
The question is it % or is it a fixed width, which can't be used? Why I've mentioned up to 100% as this includes 85%, 90%, 95% and if the 5% of your screen are still 300px, because you got a ultra wide 32x9 fov filling screen, then this would be useful to use. But yeah, let's close it. I'm sure the kwin dev team has programmed the current way for good reason. Sorry for taking your time! :-)
