SUMMARY when, in editor view, I change the color profile of an image and close the window or go to another one ("next"), digikam does NOT ask if I want to save the changes. Also the "save"-button is greyed out as if the was no change applied. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. have color management enabled in digikam 2. open an image without or with another profile than working space profile, in digikam editor 3. in the appearing dialog select to change the profile to another one (the dialog differs if there is no profile or an unmatching one in the image file; select the answer that will assign a new one to the image that actually changes the colors displayed on screen) 4. close the editor window (or click "next" to go to the next image in the album) OBSERVED RESULT - the "save" dialog in the menu-line is greyed out (would have to use "save as") - there is no dialog "image was changed, do you want to save it?" - the changed image is closed without saving, the changes are lost EXPECTED RESULT - the "save"-button should be activated when the color profile is changed - when closing the window or jumping to another image (previous/next...) the usual dialog asking if changes should be saved or ignored should appear, and according action taken SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Digikam 7.9 from OpenSuse Repos Linux/KDE Plasma: OpenSuse 15.5 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.9 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0 Qt Version: 5.15.8
I can't reproduce the problem here with digiKam-8.6.0. In both versioning and normal save mode, digiKam asks about saving the images, and the buttons are illuminated accordingly. Now, your digiKam-7.9.0 version is already very old (over 3 years old). I would close the bug as fixed. Maik
Okay, I understand, it's about the initial dialog if the color profiles differ. I can also confirm this for digiKam-8.6.0. Maik

Sorry, that this was not clear in my summary, only in the list of steps to reproduce the problem. It's the only place where I change color profiles in old images if necessary, and I didn't know, that the function is also available via the colors-menu. When using the colors-menu function it activates the "save"-button and triggers the "want-to-save?"-dialog as it should. But not when changing it already in the opening dialog, where I change it when there is a profile mismatch.
