Media files contain all sorts of metadata and tags. Currently Haruna only plays media files, and there is no feature to view/edit the file's information such as Codec Properties, Tags, Embedded Subtitle/Lyrics text, Cover Art, etc. To understand what I'm talking about, check out how VLC Media Player can show Codec Information, and provides Tag Editing functionality under its "Tools" menu Item. Another honorable mention is Foobar2000 Music Player, which provides the best Tag Editing and Information Viewing options for audio files. I suggest Haruna to catch up with this essential feature, and provide a menu item for viewing Codec and ReplayGain information, much like VLC. And another menu item to open a tag editing dialog, so we can edit a video or audio file's metadata and cover art, much like Foobar2000. FFmpeg framework provides the FFprobe tool to view essential information about a media file and its containing streams; but Haruna uses LibMPV as backend, and I don't know if LibMPV provides such features. If not, there are other tools to edit and probe multimedia information.
I don't see this functionality as being essential. Haruna is foremost a media player, anything else like viewing metadata is just extra at this point. > If not, there are other tools to edit and probe multimedia information Case in point.. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 491154 ***
