Description Jeffrey Krebs 2025-03-10 22:00:59 UTC
As a video editor, I want the "Cut Clip" or Razor Clip function to respect the active/inactive state of video and audio tracks, so that I can place edit points on individual tracks without unintentionally modifying inactive tracks.

Acceptance Criteria
1. The "Cut Clip" function should only affect tracks that are marked as active.

2. Inactive tracks must remain unaffected when the "Cut Clip" function is applied.

3. The user interface should clearly indicate which tracks are active and will be affected by the "Cut Clip" function.

4. Behaviour should align intuitively with the purpose of the track active/inactive selectors to avoid confusion.

Additional Notes
Ensure that changes in functionality do not affect overall application performance.

Provide appropriate warnings or tooltips if a user attempts to perform a cut on tracks with mixed activation states.

Hello Jeffrey

On the theoretical terms you are right but we have a mixed behavior due to progressive changes in the app.

Before the introduction of the 3 point editing the reference was the higlighted track only. While normally the reference is on the active tracks. This second behavior helps to highligh symoultaneously more tracks instead of one at time only. But now we have some operation that work with one approach (eg where to copy a clip) and other that follow the enabled tracks system (eg jump to a cut).

We should consider a discussion about this.
