Description Wind He 2025-02-28 10:11:20 UTC
SUMMARY

With "turn off screen when lid off" in power settings, close lid and plug in external monitor, then plug out, internal monitor never turn back even if I press some keys.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. "turn off screen when lid off" in power settings
2. Close laptop lid
3. Plug in external monitor, wait it to display, disable laptop monitor
4. Pug out external monitor
5. Open lid, press whatever keys.

OBSERVED RESULT

Still black on laptop monitor. When I press some keys, journal says:

```
kwin_wayland_drm: Setting dpms mode failed!
```

I should only restart kwin-wayland to restore it.

EXPECTED RESULT

With any user interaction, internal monitor turn back.

Edit:
Even if I set "lockscreen when lid close" instead of "close screen", it also happen, sometimes.

I can't replicate this issue on my laptop.

Please get a drm debug log for when KWin tries to enable the display but fails. https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/wikis/Debugging/Debugging-DRM-issues describes describes how to do that
