SUMMARY
I had my system setup with sleep then hibernate, with hibernate enabled. However, at some point I disabled hibernation, and this option disappeared in power management. However, internally the option was still set (SleepMode=3 in powerdevilrc), which meant powerdevil couldn't go to sleep when I had it configured as an option.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable hibernation systemwide, enable sleep then hibernate.
2. Disable hibernate.
3. Close laptop lid or press power button.

OBSERVED RESULT
Doesn't sleep

EXPECTED RESULT
Sleeps
