Description mattias.lundahl 2025-02-27 18:31:37 UTC
SUMMARY
The audio volume widget in the system tray shows the muted icon regardless of whether the audio is muted or not.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Log in
2. The widget shows the muted icon
3. Mute/unmute any number of times
4. The widget shows the muted icon regardless

OBSERVED RESULT
The audio volume widget in the system tray always shows the muted icon

EXPECTED RESULT
The icon should only show the muted icon when the audio really is muted.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: 6.11.0
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.11.0
Qt Version: 6,8,2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This has been the case for me since at least Plasma 6.2 and is still the case now with 6.3.2.

I actually just solved the issue myself. I went into the audio settings where I had the audio devices in my Dell Thunderbolt dock disabled. When I enabled it, the audio icon immediately started behaving as expected.

This issue still exists in the current version. Disabling an audio output should not show a perma muted icon.
