Description branch8475 2025-02-27 15:55:12 UTC
SUMMARY
When I send the operating system into suspend mode with "systemctl suspend", then everything works fine.
But when I use the standby button in the Kickoff Application Launcher of KDE Plasma, then the operating system goes into suspend mode and after user input resumes to a black screen.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Kickoff Application Launcher
2. Klick on "Standby Mode"
3. Wait until the operating system is in suspend mode.
4. Provide user input so that the operating system awakes
5. Wait until the operating system has returned from suspend mode

OBSERVED RESULT
The screen is black.

EXPECTED RESULT
The Plasma desktop environment is visible on the monitor

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora 41
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.11.0
Qt Version: 6.8.2
Graphics driver: Nvidia proprietary driver

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

journalctl provided this message from the log:
kwin_wayland[1605]: kwin_wayland_drm: Pageflip timed out! This is a bug in the nvidia-drm kernel driver

This message occurs when the operating system goes into suspend mode after step 2.

journalctl log as requested in comment #1

This time after step 5 the KDE Plasma desktop environment appeared on the monitor, but it was frozen and crashed.

I'm also affected; not on nvidia, but intel GPU.

Many entries of similar to this:

Can you follow https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/wikis/Debugging/Debugging-DRM-issues to get a drm debug log of the issue? It will hopefully show why setting the dpms mode fails.
