SUMMARY Starting to rebind buttons for a remote, then closing the KCM breaks the controls. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 0. Make sure the remote control does anything in any view (like Dolphin file view) 1. Open KCM 2. Start rebinding buttons 3. Rebinding does not really do anything 4. Close the KCM OBSERVED RESULT Controls do not work anymore EXPECTED RESULT Controls would revert to what they were and keep working SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: SteamOS 3.8 Build: 20250218.1000 KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.9.0 Qt Version: 6.8.1 Kernel Version: 6.11.11-valve4-2-neptune-611-gabbae5642abb (64-bit) Graphics Platform: offscreen Partition: A Processors: 8 × AMD Custom APU 0932 Memory: 14.5 GiB of RAM ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I am not sure but it seems like the binding stays on the background, so the keys go to the binding system, not whatever user is trying to interact.
Forgot to mention: This happens on both X11 and Wayland sessions
Hmmm, https://invent.kde.org/unmaintained/kremotecontrol is dead since more than half a decade, I think that bug ended up on the wrong product.
Could somebody put that to the right part? Thanks!
Hello! I had the same problem reported in this topic. I use Fedora and I followed these steps: 1- I downloaded the latest Fedora ISO dated 03/07/2025; 2- I put the ISO on a Pen-drive with Ventoy; 3- I started the ISO when the notebook booted; 4- Fedora started normally and Plasma recognized the side buttons of my mouse (generic mouse) normally; 5- I installed Fedora on the notebook; 6- I restarted the notebook and started the system normally from the local disk. At that moment, Plasma still recognized the side buttons of my mouse; 7- I updated the system to the latest version (data below); 8- From that moment on, Plasma stopped recognizing the side buttons of my mouse.
