Description Robby Engelmann 2025-02-25 14:17:05 UTC
Having Activity-linked folders in FolderView widget on the desktop. Those folders have custom icons (physically within the home directory). After startup, they are mostly shown correctly.
Switching activities back and forth --> for some (random) the standard icons are shown.

Comment 3 Nate Graham 2025-02-26 20:16:48 UTC
Does it ever happen when not using Activity-linked folders?
Comment 4 Robby Engelmann 2025-02-26 21:11:21 UTC
I added another folderview showing a custom folder containing some of the icons shown to change to the standard folder icon previously.

Can you clarify what version of Plasma this was found in? And can you still reproduce the issue with Plasma 6.3.5 or later?

Thanks a lot!

I'd like to try to reproduce this. Can you provide a simple step by step set of instructions to get the setup you have? I want to make sure I'm testing the right configuration. Thanks.

I hope this works:

1. create >1 activity
2. add a folderview widget to both desktops (desktop as containment)
3. setup both folderviews to show activity linked files
4. create some folders and adjust that the folder icons are selected jpg or png files from the disk
5. link this folders to the activities
6. check whether icons are shown correctly after switching around activities (hopefully not correctly shown :-))

(In reply to Robby Engelmann from comment #9)
Thanks for the detailed steps. I was able to reproduce this problem on git-master

Further observations:
I have two Activities active, two inactive
After linking a test folder to only Activity2, I did see it in the widget on that activity and Activity1
Also, after right clicking the folder in the widget, and removing it from Activity2, it still showed up in the widget on Activity1
Right clicking on the folder in Dolphin and going to Activities correctly shows it is not linked to any activity

With the folder not linked to any activity:
Right clicking on the folder in the widget on Activity 1 shows conflicting information. The menu shows:
  - I can add it only to activities 3 and 4
  - I can unlink it from activities 1, 2 or 3
