Created attachment 178562 [details] vid The problem is when creating a screenshot in the Spectacle. When I take a screenshot using Spectacle in Moonlight or in other applications using Ctrl+C, the resulting screenshot cannot be inserted anywhere. You have to take the screenshot again (Ctrl+C) and then you can paste it. Or you need to select something else in the buffer history, and then the screenshot is taken, and then it also works. For more information, see the video. 1) I take a screenshot. 2) I'm trying to insert it into PureRef and nothing works. It doesn't matter where I paste it, PureRef or another window where I can paste the copied image. 3) I press Win + V and select another item, and then again the screenshot that I took in the Spectacle. 4) I press Ctrl+V and it works. After these actions, the screenshots work (Ctrl+V inserts the screenshot) the first time. But after a while, if I want to take a screenshot, then I need to repeat what I described above and it works again.
Faced with the same problem. When creating a screenshot, it cannot be inserted into other applications.
This seems similar to bug 485096, but I see that you are using a version that should have the fix (fixed in 24.08.1). Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the bug. Are you on Wayland or X11? If you are on Wayland, what is the output of `wl-paste -l` after copying and while Spectacle is still open? While Spectacle is still open, can you paste into a web browser like Firefox or Chromium? Can you paste into a Qt/KDE app like KolourPaint or Krita or a GTK app like GIMP?
The X11 equivalent command should be `xclip -selection clipboard -o -t TARGETS`
I don't open the Spectacle, I take a screenshot of the selected area using the Ctrl+PrtScr keys (I assigned them in the settings). I select the area of the screen I need and press Ctrl+C and the image itself is in the buffer, but for some reason it is not inserted into any window. Most of the time, the problem occurs when I take a screenshot in Moonlight. I use Wayland. >text/html >chromium/x-source-url >STRING >text/plain;charset=utf-8 >TEXT >UTF8_STRING >text/plain >text/plain;charset=utf-8
> While Spectacle is still open, can you paste into a web browser like Firefox > or Chromium? Can you paste into a Qt/KDE app like KolourPaint or Krita or a > GTK app like GIMP? Unfortunately, it is not possible to insert into any of the windows until I take a second screenshot or follow the steps described above. Для команды, которую вы посоветовали я установил wl-clipboard (до этого у меня его не было, он обязателен?).
Feels like it's a Klipper bug if the screenshot can't be pasted until something else first takes it place at the top of the list and then moves back. When this happens, are you able to paste the screenshot into a Dolphin window or the desktop? In other words, is the problem only seen when trying to paste the screenshot into this specific thing you're trying to paste it into in your screen recording? (which is helpful, thanks)
I have the same problem. Arch Linux, Wayland

(which is helpful, thanks) I create a screenshot with Ctrl+C and only the image is copied, not the file. When a bug occurs, it cannot be inserted into any application. PureRef, any graphic editor, browser. I can't paste anywhere at all until I select something else in the clipboard and select the screenshot again.
How about if you paste into Dolphin or the Plasma desktop, as I asked before? Does that work before you re-arrange the items in the history popup?
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #9) > How about if you paste into Dolphin or the Plasma desktop, as I asked > before? Does that work before you re-arrange the items in the history popup? I am attaching 2 screenshots. On the first bug, there is also an inscription on top of the folder. On the second one, I switched the clipboard to another point and back, as already shown in the video, and a dialog box appears. When there is a bug, the dialog box does not appear.

Thank you. It does seem like Klipper is at fault; moving over there.
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #13) > Thank you. It does seem like Klipper is at fault; moving over there. Perhaps, I do not know)
Cannot reproduce
on X11 btw
Can reproduce without Klipper, moving back to Spectacle.
(In reply to Fushan Wen from comment #16) > on X11 btw I wrote above that I use wayland. The problem occurs on two computers and a laptop. Install Moonlight, connect to Sunshine, and take a screenshot. The problem does not occur every time, but very often.

Unfortunately, now there is the same problem with the text. It does not paste the copied text.
The situation has become even worse. Now the text has the same problem. Sometimes you need to do the same thing when trying to insert text. And sometimes it doesn't help, I click on different lines in the clipboard history and the desired text is not inserted. It just doesn't happen.

Something strange is happening with the clipboard. I do as you described above and sometimes its contents are not inserted.
This issue has been fixed in Plasma 6.4.
Quick question: are people experiencing this issue using the "Keep the selection and clipboard the same" setting?
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #24) > Quick question: are people experiencing this issue using the "Keep the > selection and clipboard the same" setting? Where is that setting ? i cannot find said setting anywhere within spectacle, running Version 6.3.5
It's a system setting. Clipboard system tray item > configure
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #26) > It's a system setting. Clipboard system tray item > configure Thank you, i discover new KDE features every day 😄, the setting is disabled for me.
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #26) > It's a system setting. Clipboard system tray item > configure I went into the settings, but I still couldn't find this feature. In the system parameters, only KDE Connect is displayed for the "Clipboard" query. My language is not English, can you tell me in more detail where the option is located?
It's the second checkbox.

In the ray icon spot, right click the clipboard (📋) icon, you should see the clipboard settings in there

Thanks. This is called "in the tray". I found it. But I don't understand this function or not.

(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #29) > It's the second checkbox. I've attached a screenshot, is this it?
Yes, that's it.
Hello, i'm still experiencing the same issue even on KDE 6.4.2: Just like last time, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but it's the exact same behavhior, as in when it doesn't work i can open the clipboard copy something else, then copy the thing i wanted again, and only then it works. Operating System: CachyOS Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.16.0 Qt Version: 6.9.1 Kernel Version: 6.15.6-2-cachyos (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-Core Processor Memory: 64 GiB of RAM (62.3 GiB usable) Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT
Yes. I still have this problem. What she didn't have before. Unfortunately, nothing has changed since I reported it.
I'm also seeing this bug, encountering it almost on a daily basis since I updated to 6.4.2. Operating System: Fedora Linux 42 KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.15.0 Qt Version: 6.9.1 Kernel Version: 6.15.5-200.fc42.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 32 × AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16-Core Processor Memory: 64 GiB of RAM (62,4 GiB usable) Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
Recently, the problem has become much more common than it was before. Now, almost every time I take a screenshot, it cannot be inserted until I press Win + V and select something else, and then select the screenshot I need again. And now this problem has appeared when copying text. It is also impossible to paste it into another place after you have copied it.
Still happening to me and a few friends today, seems like Spectacle just generally fails to put the image in the clipboard in many different ways.
(In reply to Liarus1001 from comment #39) > Still happening to me and a few friends today, seems like Spectacle just > generally fails to put the image in the clipboard in many different ways. Spectacle has nothing to do with it. This problem appeared probably more than 1-2 years ago and has only gotten worse lately. Because even with copied text, it also occurs. I'm guessing there's a problem with the clipboard. For some reason, he cannot insert the information copied into it until he performs the actions that I described above.
Please fix this issue. Now it doesn't work at all. Even the text is not copied.

I'm not able to reproduce this issue with today's git master of Spectacle and everything else KDE-related.
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #43) > I'm not able to reproduce this issue with today's git master of Spectacle > and everything else KDE-related. I don't have this problem every time, but quite often. Several times a day. Sometimes it happens that she is not there for 2 days, sometimes many times an hour.
Created attachment 187475 [details] Visual demonstration of the issue. (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #42) > *** Bug 506781 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I don't know if it's the same bug, my issue is similar but different since when the screenshot fails and I can't paste it, I don't even see it in the clipboard, but instead I see an empty entry (just like this attached example), when it happens I have to manually click on the "copy" button inside Spectacle, so I've made it a habit to keep Spectacle open every time just in case. But this shouldn't be a permanent workaround for such a bug... Are you sure this is a duplicate?
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #43) > I'm not able to reproduce this issue with today's git master of Spectacle > and everything else KDE-related. This bug is very annoying, especially when, for example, you need to take a screenshot in a game or somewhere else at a certain moment. I'm trying to insert a screenshot, but it doesn't insert anything, and the moment is lost. There are no more opportunities to do it. So because of this bug, I'm missing important screenshots for myself :-(
Try this: 1. Chat with Google Chat on Google Chrome 2. With Spectacle do a rectangle (any size) on a portion of chat and copy 3. Paste the image to another chat Repeat 1, 2 and 3 multiple times At 99% of times there is one big probability that copy will not work My hardware is a Xeon, with no discrete GPU.
