Description hariveerabahu 2025-02-13 17:37:29 UTC
SUMMARY
I am using the latest build version 8.6.0-20250213T140204-Qt6.
while rebuilding the training data, it also scanning and detecting the face. but before, it does not recognize the face in my albums. Instead, it scans all the photos in my album, read the people and faces from the metadata, use them to train.
so that next time i upload a person face, it detects and recognize the faces accurately.
But now while I run the Rebuild all training data, My number of faces in the unconfirmed section is increasing.
I believe that it is detecting faces and recognizing faces simultaneously whild rebuilding the training data.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. in menu bar go to "Tools"
2. select "Maintenance"
3. Maintenance dialog box appear.
4. In the detect and recognize Face section, click on the check box "Rebuild all training data"

OBSERVED RESULT
recognizing faces from the selected albums in the common option section

EXPECTED RESULT
Rebuild the training data only
(that is it should read all my photos and train the face/people data, so that it can recognize the faces next time)

I definitely can't reproduce it here. The training rebuild doesn't look for new faces. If a face-ening task is running, no further one is executed and waits until the other one has finished.
Have you perhaps activated the option to scan for faces at startup?

Hi,

The 8.7.0 pre-release Windows installer from today have been rebuilt from
scratch with Qt 6.8.3, KDE 6.12, OpenCV 4.11 + CUDA support, Exiv2 0.28.5, ExifTool 13.27, ffmpeg 7, all image codecs updated to last version (jxl, avif, heif, aom, etc.).

Please try with this version to see if your problem still reproducible...

Thanks in advance
