Glitch

SUMMARY
There is a glitch in open kickoff animation.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open kickoff

OBSERVED RESULT
You can see a black rectangle with edges like steps during the animation.

Might not be in KWin but in plasma/kickoff.

EXPECTED RESULT
No black rectangle.

It seems to be happen after resizing kickoff.

Can you confirm it still glitches with sliding popups off.
Same with/without blur

I confirm, if I display blur effect this does not happen and when I re-enable it this happens again.

Do you have any non-default display settings? I've seen several cases with similar glitches when 16 bit shadow buffers are used.

I had ICC profiling using my built-in profile but turning it off didn't change a thing.
Other than that I don't other none-default settings.
I don't have any fractional scaling.

If I turn off contrast effect or blur effect, the bug does not happen.

I now use a two external screens setup and the bug is harder to trigger now.

I faced the same problem, I'll attach the video below.

TEMPORARY SOLUTION:

- Disable the blur effect in the desktop effects settings. 
System Settings > Window Management > Desktop Effects > Blur (from on to off)
