Description Davide Maria Giambirtone 2025-02-05 13:14:17 UTC
SUMMARY
When viewing a pdf and having a high zoom level, then selecting auto-fit in the top menu, you lose the ability to scroll until you first zoom either in or out, this does not happen when coming from a smaller zoom level

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a PDF
2. Zoom in a lot
3. Select Fit page in the top left menu
4. Attempt to scroll

OBSERVED RESULT
Can't scroll

EXPECTED RESULT
Should be able to scroll

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 11
Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora 41
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.10.0
Qt Version: 6.8.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Tested both on windows (the latest version on the MS store) and linux (the latest version on fedora's repos)

I'm unable to reproduce this issue.

I opened a PDF, zoomed in to 10,000% using the zoom dropdown, then using the same dropdown selected Fit Page. I was still able to scroll up and down on the PDF.

Is it specific to certain PDF files? Does it happen if you try the same process in another user account?

Okular showing broken behaviour on linux

Hi, so sorry to come back to you so late, it's the first bug report i create here and i'm used to them beng on github

Anyhow, i think i may have written the wrong stuff, this bug happens when zooming to >100% and then using Auto Fit, not Fit Page
I'll show a recorded video from my phone (sorry for the quality) of it happening on linux, it's the same on windows tho, and it happends even for the most basic files

i also added in t he video the fact that, when in that locked state, zooming will allow you to then scroll the pages
Also i'm on version 24.12.2, i don't think it has changed since i submitted this bug report

Any news on this? Sorry if i'm commenting like this but it's my first time filing a bug on this platform and the comment about the bug being in NEEDSINFO kinda "scared" me, like the bug fell into a graveyard

Anyways, this still happens on basically every pdf i tested, it was happening on windows previously.. i can't test windows right now but on linux, undere the following version numbers, it still occurs

Okular: 25.04.1
KDE Frameworks: 6.14.0
Qt: Using 6.9.0 and built against 6.9.0
Arch Linux (Wayland)
Build ABI: x86_64-little_endian-lp64
Kernel: linux 6.14.9-arch1-1

Albert, are you able to confirm it? I don't see any comments regarding this.
Comment 7 Albert Astals Cid 2025-06-14 11:51:43 UTC
Yes, i did confirm it in February https://bugs.kde.org/show_activity.cgi?id=499547

That does not mean i am working on it, but yes i was able to reproduce it.

Yeah I saw that. That is why I asked, as I didn't see any comment. Usually with confirming I add a comment specifying on which distro and/or app or plasma version and frameworks version I can confirm it on, so I wasn't sure if it was a mistake.
