SUMMARY Places looks similar in File>Open and Dolphin. Wearing my "regular user" hat, I assume that File>Open is in fact Dolphin; why wouldn't it be? (Of course it's not; reasons.) Adding folders to Places is had to discover and clunky to execute (it should be: right click on folder; add to places). Users might figure their way through it once or twice, but there's enough friction that I would wager a lot of money that the actual list of places is sub-ideal if 95% of users. The real insult to injury is that "places" have to be set up twice; once for File>Open, and once for Dolphin. To regular users this is "a bug"; I already did this, why do I have to do it again? Places entries are created globally, if you ask for it, see https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=498579 > (it should be: right click on folder; add to places) That's already possible in Dolphin *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 498579 ***
1) There's no "Add to places" in File > Open's context menu. 2) Items added through the cumbersome workflow in File > Open do not show up in Dolphin.
Hi - on my Fedora KDE 41 device, folders added to "Places" in a File > Open dialog also show up in Dolphin, and vice versa, so I can't reproduce what I think you're describing. Could you please give specific steps that could be reproduced to see that behavior? Please see https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting#Steps_to_Reproduce for a reference. Thanks!
