half fix …

SUMMARY

I am not using face tags at all and it is disturbing for me to have an unused "people" folder in my tag manager list. Deleting this folder seems to be impossible as the face tags "unconfirmed", "unknown" and "ignored" cannot be deleted. Altering it lead to a system report after closing the app again (app quit unexpectedly).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. In the tags tab or in the tag manager, right-click on "people" tag folder and select "delete tag"
2. The folder is briefly deleted and reappears immediately
3. Close the app

OBSERVED RESULT
1. Failing to delete unused tag folder and contained tags
2. MacOs report: "app quit unexpectedly"

EXPECTED RESULT
Efficiently deleting empty, unused and unwanted "People" tag folder and its contained face tags "unconfirmed", "unknown" and "ignored" so that tag list can be designed freely

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
macOS: Sonoma 14.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.7.0
Qt Version: 6.7.2 (built against 6.7.2)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
One possible solution to go around the problem: renaming "People" folder with something like "zzz" so it moves to the bottom of the tag list. Wishing for a more elegant solution …

Deleting these system face tags is not possible and is intended to be done that way. Even if you don't use face detection/recognition, you will have to live with these face tags. We will look into the crash.

Are you actually using digiKam-8.6.0 because you changed it?

OK, too bad for usability. A way to visually hide them would be nice though!
I was on 5.0 and tried 6.0 to see if the problem would still be there.

Hi,

digiKam 8.6.0 is just released:

Problem still exists with this version?

Thanks in advance

Hi, thanks for following up!
yes, actually the "unexpected quit" is still happening with this version, even though Maik Qualmann's intervention makes it actually impossible to delete the parent folder of any face tag. So basically no deletion or new creation of a folder happens but even trying to do so leads to the unexpected quitting of the app.
