Description fuerallesg 2025-01-26 12:57:10 UTC
SUMMARY
In the album view I select e.g. 100 images out of 400 and start the process of reading the metdadata from file (entry-read metadata from selected files). However, instead of 100 updated images the 101st image is updated as well

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select x images
2. Read metdadata from selected files

OBSERVED RESULT
x+1 images are updated

EXPECTED RESULT
x images are updated

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 11

No, without testing it I don't think so. Is the 101st element possibly a member of a group?

Yes, the 101st is a member of a group. However, the 101st element is not member of a group of the 100 selected items. It is a new group.

I have debugged it and the metadata of the next item is definitely not read. Such an error would affect all other functions in digiKam, e.g. one more item would be copied or opened in tools, etc.

Maybe it is related to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499114. I have not checked the whole metadata. I was just on my way to read the metadata again because of the issue with the camera creation date shown below the image in the album view. There, the camera creation date of the x+1 image got updated and corrected although I have not read this metadata. I concluded that the metadata of that file is read again.

We won't be able to do anything here without DebugView logs. With such a log we might also be able to track down the reason why the metadata is not captured correctly for some users during the first scan.

I could not reproduce the issue with the camera creation date and I have already updated all files. As soon as I have the option to reproduce the error I will provide the requested file.

Hi,

The 8.7.0 pre-release Windows installer from today have been rebuilt from
scratch with Qt 6.8.3, KDE 6.12, OpenCV 4.11 + CUDA support, Exiv2 0.28.5, ExifTool 13.27, ffmpeg 7, all image codecs updated to last version (jxl, avif, heif, aom, etc.).

Please try with this version to see if your problem still reproducible...

Thanks in advance
Best regards
