SUMMARY I’ve packaged Plasma 6.3 for Debian and noticed that the new discover never shows the updates in the updates page. It gets stuck showing "Fetching updates…". Reverting to 6.2.5 fixes the issue. The last logs on 6.2.5 say : Found new major release: "11" Found a closer new major release: "10" Found a closer new major release: "9" And on 6.2.91 : AppStreamIntegration: Cannot detect current distro version for "org.debian.debian" SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Debian/unstable+Plasma from experimental KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.90 / 6.2.91 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.10.0 Qt Version: 6.7.2
Can you enable all kf* and org.kde* debug categories and try again please. Hard to say what's going on there.
Created attachment 177660 [details] Debug logs of running discover then opening the updates page
Here’s the output of : QT_LOGGING_RULES="kf*.debug=true;org.kde*.debug*true" plasma-discover in attachment. I’ve added a ========== separator to split the logs of the initial app opening and the logs of when I clicked the updates section in the left panel.
Very inconclusive :( Would be cool if you could give us some quick steps to replicate that setup so we can poke around a bit.
Right, will try to reproduce in a clean VM and report back.
I’ve bisected it to this commit : https://invent.kde.org/plasma/discover/-/commit/5007cb10b15407752394ffd74de7d09916162ceb Reverting it makes Discover happy again.
Still looking for steps to replicate your system :)
For some reason it’s fixed in 6.3.0 so closing.
