SUMMARY So the title describes my issue. My KDE Connect app would suddenly change to Chinese out of nowhere, and I can't change it back. Reinstalling the app seems to fix it, but it would change to Chinese after a while. I do have the Chinese language pack installed on my phone, but that is not set as my main display language. Chinese is below English in my preferred languages list. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install app 2. App is in main language. Do basically nothing 3. See app is in Chinese OBSERVED RESULT See app is in Chinese EXPECTED RESULT Have the app be in my usual language, English. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS App is installed from F-Droid App Version: 1.32.10 Phone: Pixel 8 Android Version: 15 (Security Patch up to Jan 5, 2025) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION A proposed solution would be to add an option for the user to change the language used within the app.
I found a similar bug affecting quick clipboard sync tile, see https://imgur.com/a/nkG4kNn It switched its text to Ukrainian. It seems the app somehow determined an appropriate language to use in my location While I appreciate internationalization efforts, I prefer my UIs in English Android 15, KDE Connect 1.32.11 The issue seems to be related to the latest update, but I did not bisect yet.
Also seen with Spanish as the second, non-default language, Android version 15, Samsung One UI 7.0. App "Acerca de Versión" :-) is 1.33.4 Started at the phone update to Android 15. Since I'm just a Duolingo beginner, "No puedo usarla así"
(In reply to kjar from comment #2) > Also seen with Spanish as the second, non-default language, Android version I'll also note Android 15 has a per-application language selection. Selecting "English" for kdeconnect rather than "default" does not fix the problem.
