You are using the Ubuntu Snap digiKam package. Snap packages are useless for digiKam because they use a sandbox. Use our AppImage on Ubuntu. Maik

AppImage is way too slow on my old system. version 8.5.0 of Digikam used to run perfectly well until recently. I suspect an Ubuntu update to be the cause
I use Ubuntu to build the AppImage. It run perfectly here... 22.04 is the minimum version compatible. Best Gilles Caulier
Hello, I got same problem after a snap refresh. It has updated Chromium and Firefox. Snap dikikam 8.5 was working fine before the refresh, not anymore after the refresh.
I am trying to work out the snap.
Several of our snaps hit this bug. I have filed a bug upstream snapd https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapd/+bug/2095418
This has been fixed for snap and released to stable
Thanks you Scarlett to maintain the Snap package. All my best for 2025. Gilles
