Description me 2025-01-12 17:25:06 UTC
SUMMARY
Cannot copy/paste between virtual desktops, despite the item appearing within Clipboard widget history.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create two virtual desktops.
2. Copy something with explicit Ctrl+C or screenshot (that saves to clipboard) from VD1.
3. Move to VD2
4. Try to paste.

OBSERVED RESULT
Clipboard is empty. Item appears within clipboard history widget.

EXPECTED RESULT
Paste should occur and paste the item that is in the history.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
OS: CachyOS Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.9.0
Qt Version: 6.8.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If I sync the selection and clipboard contents, with "Keep the selection and clipboard the same" and turn on "Always save text and non-text in history" it will work between virtual desktops.

PS: Sorry, wasn't sure if this was kwin, plasmashell, etc, so I leave that determination up to you kind bug hunters....

Different virtual desktops shouldn't impact copying and pasting... Does copying and pasting work on the same virtual desktop?

Yes it does, works fine within the same one.

I can't tell if this is actually my keyboard dying. I thought testing it with right-click also re-created the issue (well, made it appear as non-functioning, I mean), but it wasn't working even with selection=clipboard, but turning it back off has restored it to working properly.

I'm going to do further testing then report back... Maybe worth closing for now? N

lol.... sorry, I must've not realized this was literally only happening in this application, most likely. https://github.com/OrangeDrangon/android-messages-desktop/issues/481
