Searching hidden files can be enabled through settings - search - file search - checking Hidden files and folders. The dolphin setting is only about displaying hidden files.

Nevermind, still not working. Indexed my whole drive in "File Search" app, checked the "hidden" files option. Dolphin is still not finding the file.
Searching the file via the Application Launcher, finds it though. I don't want to search for files in my launcher though, I want to search and find files via the file manager, in this case Dolphin.

Search this file from root (/) If you are searching from root, you won't be querying a Baloo index, you'll be using Dolphin's internal search. The "System Settings > File Search" won't make a difference as they relate to the Baloo indexing. I seem to remember a bug that Dolphin's search did not explore down hidden folders, I'll see if I can find it.
