SUMMARY
Well I decided to test out the newest plasma beta release as I always do and unfortunately it is paired with the Qt Beta release as Arch always does. There appears to be an issue where when I trigger the overview and start typing. A window will briefly flicker into view and then disappear just as fast. Normally I keep the window filtering setting off in the overview, but this happens whether it is on or off.

I have 9 virtual desktops in a 3x3 grid and two monitors. The window that flickers onto the screen appears to be the window that is present on monitor 1, virtual desktop 1. I tried moving that window to virtual desktop 2 and the window that inappropriately appears in the overview search result becomes the window on monitor 1 virtual desktop 7.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Trigger the overview.
2. Start typing, sometimes it happens on the second character when I type "k a", sometimes the first character when I type "L". You may have to do it a couple of times. For me it sometimes it happens every time. Sometimes I have to trigger it like 6 times for it to start happening again. Maybe a "race condition"?

OBSERVED RESULT
A window briefly appears when it shouldn't. The window that appears isn't on the current monitor or desktop so regardless of whether or not you have window filtering turned on or off in the overview settings. It shouldn't be there.

EXPECTED RESULT
For me since I have window filtering turned off in the overview. A window should never appear.

Can't seem to reproduce with Qt 6.8.1, yeah.

I see, so definitely a Qt 6.9 issue. I wish Arch would separate out the Qt betas from the Plasma betas.

I can't reproduce with Qt dev, so it seems to be fixed upstream already. If it still happens when Qt 6.9 is released, just reopen this

Just wanted the add that I was still able to trigger the bug with the update to plasma 6.3 and qt 6.8.2, but I will wait for 6.9 to be released as suggested. Also gonna try nuking the cache folder.

Added video recording to showcase the bug for clarification and in case it is needed later.

Came back to this after upgrading again and the problem still persists on my main user account. The issue does not pop up under a new user, so there must be something broken in my config. I tried deleting most of the cache files related to plasma, but that didn't help.
