Never saw it happens before. Notebook running on battery. Screen by itself started to get from 10% up to 100% brightness and then turns black (out of brightness range?) As I could see the widget itself shows 10% brightness. Closing lid/restart from sleep did not fixed it. Happened even on SDDM screen, as seen on video. On the video you cannot see the brightness is going up, but believe me it is. Pressing Esc a few times started all from the beginning. After reboot all is fine again. openSUSE Tumblweed. If there are some logs I could provide them.
Bugzilla does not let attach it, but here is the video in the cloud: https://disk.yandex.com/i/Gp1B3Y53tCRzbg
It just happened again to me. And the trigger is: reaching 29% on battery power. First time battery was on 29% as well.
Update. 6.2.5 - same issue. But when I have full screen Youtube video running the problem does not appear. BTW My hardware: Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20250105 KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.9.0 Qt Version: 6.8.1 Kernel Version: 6.12.8-1-default (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5825U with Radeon Graphics Memory: 14,5 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon Graphics Manufacturer: LENOVO Product Name: 82RQ System Version: IdeaPad 3 17ABA7
Seems to be fixed in 6.3.80 (openSUSE Krypton). Tried two times and all is OK.
Thanks for reporting and testing on different versions. Plasma 6.3 (beta 1) does have a few extra changes on top of 6.2.5, so it's possible that things are fixed there that didn't work before. I'm unsure what would have caused this, though. Closing as resolved/worksforme unless you decide to reopen it with more info - there won't be any more releases in the 6.2.x series, so 6.3 is all we can try to tackle anyway. If you encounter this again, please follow the instructions in the powerdevil README to get verbose log output: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/powerdevil/-/blob/master/README.md
