Created attachment 176968 [details] Simple screenshot of the error message. SUMMARY Upon a fresh install of KDE Neon User Edition, downloaded from the KDE website, pactl, which is required for the Info Center's Audio tab to function, was missing or undetected. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Download KDE Neon from https://neon.kde.org/download 2. Install KDE Neon 3. Navigate to the Audio tab of Info Center OBSERVED RESULT A error message reading: The pactl tool is required to display this page, but could not be found. You can search for it and install it using your package manager. Then please report this packaging issue to your distribution. EXPECTED RESULT Presumably an audio page. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE neon 6.2 KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.9.0 Qt Version: 6.8.1 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I doubt this is a major problem, considering the second line of the error message, but it did tell me to report the issue, so I've decided to follow my orders. As previously stated, this neon install has only existed for ~half an hour, and I've not deleted anything yet or strayed too far from the default settings. Sound itself seems to work fine, the sound tab in the system settings looks ok, and installing pulseaudio utils fixed it. If need be, I'm willing to reinstall neon to see if things misbehave again.
This seems like a missing package in Neon. -> Moving to Neon
Hi - thanks for your bug report! I'm merging this in with an existing bug report for the root cause here, which is that audio page specifically requesting the pactl tool on distributions like Neon that would no longer need to have it installed. Thanks! *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 489273 ***
