It seems like Dolphin version 24.12.0 suddenly doesn't respect the "Show hidden files" option on a per-folder basis with "Remember display style for each folder" option selected (I use this to hide the ".directory" file from specific folders when I use custom icons for them). I have downgraded with "sudo dnf downgrade dolphin --allowerasing" to version 24.08.2 and now it works again normally. Not sure if this is a package bug from Fedora, but I believe it is a regression from KDE itself, so I'm filling a bug here upstream. It downgraded ~530 packages alongside Dolphin. Most notably, KDE Frameworks version was 6.9.0 before the update, and I believe Qt version was 6.8.0. To reproduce the same system, have a up-to-date Fedora 41 system and use the command I provided. Operating System: Fedora Linux 41 KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.1 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.7.0 Qt Version: 6.7.2 Kernel Version: 6.12.6-200.fc41.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11
Corrections: "[...] was 6.9.0 before the update" I meant "downgrade" here. For the versions I provided (OS, KDE Plasma etc.), they're the downgraded versions.
What happens is that I use the toggle of "Show hidden files" and it doesn't get saved for a specific folder. It also seems that previously-saved states are also ignored (not read), so it always shows hidden files regardless.
This is a problem with "Remember display style for each folder option". Should be fixed in 24.12.1. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 495878 ***
