journalctl -S today

SUMMARY
I have a dual monitors and sometimes one of them will "crash", it stops drawing entirely as if entire system crashed, but it doesn't, usually I can still use system and don't even notice when it happens until I try to use something in that monitor.

Ending session and logging back in fixes the issue.

usually it happens to my second monitor, but not exclusively.

in the logs it says the following every 5s:
kwin_wayland_drm: Pageflip timed out! This is a kernel bug

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
seams random, maybe if computer is on for 6+hrs???

usually I'm browsing the web w/ Brave

OBSERVED RESULT
crash :(

EXPECTED RESULT
pls no crash

Comment 7 Zamundaaa 2025-02-11 16:19:13 UTC
In the log I see a bunch of "Failed to create a framebuffer" warnings and "kwin_core: Applying output config failed!", but those are just consequences of the kernel not accepting any new images on the screen.

I also found
> [drm:nv_drm_atomic_commit [nvidia_drm]] *ERROR* [nvidia-drm] [GPU ID 0x00000800] Flip event timeout on head 0
which makes this definitely a bug in the NVidia driver. Please report it at https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/c/gpu-graphics/linux
