Description Guillaume Lang 2024-12-20 15:19:29 UTC
SUMMARY
When setting the brightness ("Brightness and Color" widget) in a multi-monitor setup, the screens are named according to the DDC-extracted information. This tends to be confusing (which is which?). By allowing the user to give names to the monitors (e.g. : "left", "right"), and overriding the DDC-derived names with these user-defined names, the usability of the "Brightness and Color" widget would be improved. It would also look tidier than names such as "Dell Inc. DELL P2217H".

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Click on the "Brightness and Color" widget.

OBSERVED RESULT
Clunky names such as "Dell Inc. DELL P2217H".

EXPECTED RESULT
Relevant and tidy names such as "left" and "right".

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma:
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.9.0
Qt Version: 6.8.1
