SUMMARY Opening new PDFs, Okular seems to disable "continious view" (although "open in continious mode by default" is checked in okular settings) and for some PDFs, it seems to automatically enable "Facing Pages (Centre First page)" view. - But when changing settings for one PDF, it is saved for that PDF. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open different PDFs. View settings will be different. OBSERVED RESULT Same as in "Summary" EXPECTED RESULT Previous to 24.12, Okular always remembered my set View settings. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: 10 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The same happens with current Arch Linux packages, it seems to me like since https://invent.kde.org/graphics/okular/-/merge_requests/1039 was merged whatever logic is implemented there decides on using continuous mode, effectively ignoring the "Open in continuous mode by default" setting. I was at least not able to find other recent changes that could be responsible and whether it actually does open in continuous mode depends on the file.
Most likely this is a dupe of bug 497715. Okular simply started to use PDF file internal settings to override program defaults. "Open in continuous mode by default" just means „if mode is not specified by file, open in continuous mode“ (yes, I also do not like this).
