SUMMARY The System Completely Freezes (Display Output stuck, No switching ttys. no Caps/Numlock, no ctrl-alt-delete, requires hard reboot) when trying to switch User (via kscreenlocker or the start menu) when initial login was via sddm autologin. It works completely fine with autologin disabled or when login out and in again first. journalctl show these significant seeming (at least to me) logs: sddm[849]: Auth: sddm-helper exited with 5 sddm-helper[2259]: Failed to take control of "/dev/tty1" ("username"): Operation not permitted STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Enable Autologin 2. Try to switch user OBSERVED RESULT Crashes Everything EXPECTED RESULT No crash SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.8.0 Qt Version: 6.8.0 Kernel Version: 6.12.1-arch1-1 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor Memory: 31.3 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti/PCIe/SSE2
This is going to be an SDDM issue or a local setup issue. I'd recommend asking for help about it on the Arch forum to determine which it is. Thanks!
