Created attachment 176270 [details] Screenshot of Falkon UI with issues highlighted. SUMMARY Unlike virtually all other KDE applications, Falkon has not yet undergone the Plasma 6 redesign (fewer frames, more consistent spacing, etc.). You can notice this in the additional vertical line between the URL and search bar, weird rendering of the tab bar, and the titlebar being visually separate from the window (see attached screenshot). This makes Falkon look old and out-of-date, and I wouldn't be surprised if this in turn makes people assume Falkon's engine is old too, even though it of course isn't. This probably also covers Falkon using a non-standard toolbar that's different from every other toolbar in KDE (see https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427620), the non-standard (old?) blue gradient sidebar in the bookmarks manager, and probably a few other nooks and crannies. I'm not sure if this is the right place to report this as a "bug" or "request", because I assume this isn't exactly news to you lovely KDE developers. Still, I can't find any reference to Falkon getting a Plasma 6 makeover, so I figured I'd make a report. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora Linux 41 (kernel 6.11.10-300.fc41.x86_64) KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.4 (Wayland) KDE Frameworks Version: 6.8.0 Qt Version: 6.8.0
Thanks for sharing these design observations! As you mentioned might be the case, a better place to discuss and work through interface redesign/refresh topics is in the KDE Visual Design Group chatroom - that way, this could be discussed in a group setting and folks can align on a direction for those kinds of updates. Check out https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Design for links to relevant documents and to the Visual Design Group's real-time chat and ongoing work tracking. Thanks for understanding!
