Description troblin1 2024-11-30 20:45:46 UTC
SUMMARY
Right after changing the wallpaper (either manually or, more importantly, by the slideshow wallpaper option), all windows on the screen freeze for a split second and a fade effect takes place.
This makes the "slideshow" wallpaper option nearly useless.
I have recorded a video showcasing the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sV9EWZ1B-iw

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start a game or a video that changes often
2. Change your wallpaper

OBSERVED RESULT
After finishing wallpaper's fade animation, all windows freeze for a split second

EXPECTED RESULT
Windows don't react at all to the wallpaper change.

- I am not sure if I have chosen the right component in the report, I'm very sorry for any trouble

Hi - just checking, do you see this issue on a Wayland session? And are any further updates available for KDE packages in your distribution that could be checked? (Checking that as I can't reproduce this on my Fedora 41 system, Plasma 6.2.4)

Sorry, I wasn't able to use my computer for some time. I can confirm the bug also happens on Wayland. The latest version I tested this in is 6.2.5.

Okay, major update. I found out that this issue is not related to the wallpaper itself, but to accent colors - there is a fade when the colors change, and I had the option of matching the colors to the wallpaper enabled by default, thus the misunderstanding.
The issue still stands however.
Is there a way to disable the fading animation perhaps? I would like to still use the wallpaper-based colorschemes, but I don't mind it changing abruptly.
