Confirming the observed behavior and tagging as a wishlist design tweak
Thanks for confirming this. I just have a question about changing this to wishlist. Is the current behavior expected? It really looks like a bug to me. I'd expect it behave the same way as Dolphin's Places panel.
I'm no expert, but to my eyes personally, the current behavior also seems desirable - when there's more room in the window, the targets to try to click on in that Places panel get bigger and easier to distinguish? If there's a set standard for KDE applications that those sidebar panels shouldn't have adaptive icon sizes, then yes that does seem like a bug vs. a wishlist item - happy to switch whichever way makes sense based on what's established there.
Hm, I see. AFAIK this is the only sidebar that does this so it looks wrong to me, but we can keep it as wishlist for now until someone else gives an opinion as well.
Dolphin actually does it too now, I notice. Seems like it's a general behavior of the places panel's default size policy, which is shared across the file dialogs and Dolphin.
