Created attachment 175978 [details] screenshot ot system setting on my system. SUMMARY I have a have a large high res monitor, and so I set the system font size to 22. The system settings dialog has up to three panels. One has a list of sections to edit and is too narrow to make out many of the items in the list, and worse, there is no way to expand the panel. When selecting most item is the left panel another panel opens to the right if the list. It is als a fixed width and so most item in that new list are truncated and so hard ro make out. There is no way to expand that panel either. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open System Settings 2. Note virtually all items listed in the left panel are truncated and there is no way to expand the panel horizontally. 3. Note when selecting most item, ex. Accessibility, most item is the new panel are truncated and there is no way to expan the panel horizontally OBSERVED RESULT No way to expand panels to allow viewing list without truncated item in list. EXPECTED RESULT I expect to be able to read items in either panel, ans os not have to guess or click on item to see what it does. I guess eventually I'll get used to it and remember what most items are for, but I don't believe KDE is interested in having poor UI issues. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Fedora Linux 41 KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.8.0 Qt Version: 6.8.0 Kernel Version: 6.11.7-300.fc41.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 32 ร AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-Core Processor Memory: 125.7 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 550 / 550 Series Screen resolution: 3840x2160 (32 inch) I believe I am on wayland as that is the default and I haven't change it. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I am not seeing anyway to set file associations globally, like thre used to be. I'll keep looking and report another bug, or missing feature request, if I don't find a way to do that.
Based on the SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS it looks like you're using X11. Can you try switching to Wayland, reset the font size to default and use scaling option. It should look much better than just increasing the font size so much. I have 4k 27 inch monitor and use 150% scaling. You can play with a setting that works for you.
As for the file associations, go to system settings -> default applications

I switched to Wayland and it wasn't any different. I am not going to decrease font size and scale my display. The reason for a large resolution screen is to allow me to get more done. Scaling completely messes up my desktop. However, I did try the method suggested and it still had the same problem, though I could see a little more of the list item's text. Those columns need to be adjustable. Not sure how my system got set to X11, as I switched to Wayland on Fedora 40 and have stuck with it since. Happy to see wayland has finally made it to the big time. Thanks for getting that all working in KDE.
I found no way to set status to REPORTED and so set it to REOPENED. Sorry if that was the wrong thing to do.
Please use the display scaling option rather than adjusting only the font size.
I tried that. All that did was make my workspace smaller. Not the reason I have a big high resolution screen. Then, even that didn't help this particular issue as the text in the two columns is still truncated with no way to expand the columns so that the text describing the congiuration sections can be read and understood. Surely adding the ability to expand those columns isn't to big a task. Or possibly expanding the text upon mouse over so that is can be read.
