SUMMARY
Using the slider in the systemsettings (power management) has no effect. On both my computers. Both have only one screen

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.  Move slider in systemsettings power management module of the systemsettings to change screen brightness and apply new settings

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing changes

EXPECTED RESULT
Screen brightness changes

That would be expected: when you use this slider, you're not saying "change the brightness right now", you're saying "set the screen to this brightness level when the system enters this power state".

If you want to change the brightness right now, use the Brightness and Power widget in the System Tray.
