Description jimbo 2024-11-03 05:16:33 UTC
This is the second time that this has occurred, so I'm reporting it as a bug. I've been using neon for years and although there has been issues updating, it's never effected the BIOS. Recently I'd updated via Discover and hit on 'update and restart' only to be booted into my other OS Windows 11. Neon is my default option. I'm not dual booting, they are separate drives.

When I restarted from Windows of course I would go into my BIOS and see what was the issue. The option to boot into neon had disappeared. At which point I cursed out all of KDE and shut the computer off and went to bed. The next morning it booted back into neon with zero changes on my side.

I just put it down to some random glitch but I updated again yesterday and the same thing happened. This time instead of restarting from Windows 11, I just shut it down and neon reappeared. How is it that an update can wipe out the BIOS entry, and also why does it return when it gets switched off and on again?
